Dark, gritty mostly fictional historical fiction with mostly charming amusing characters and the best strong compelling female herione ive come across in many years of reading adult dark/high fantasy
Entertaining with a hint of history. I enjoy a story with flawed characters doing the best they can with what they are given. Read between the lines for a little history; you won't be disappointed.
If you enjoy Abercrombie, this one is for you. Gritty, with plenty of action,and the story keeps you turning pages. Not for children.
Book really picked up and got good like a quarter of the way in. Like the characters and,while I know some people just don't like it, the profanity and cynicism of life that appears here makes ME more prone to like it because it's the way I'm usually always thinking. Sorry that's so garbled.
Very good "historical" fiction with just enough "fantasy" thrown in. I am not a fan of fantasy but this book had just enough elements of it to add interest. Looking forward go reading the second book in the series.
Haven't read anything so captivating since The Game Of Thrones! Incredibly fast moving without unnecessary fillers. Didn't want it to end; can't wait to start on the next book of this trilogy
Age of Iron starts out slow and tedious. Too much time is spent on characters who are little more than window dressing or else destined to die in the following chapter. With so much wasted character development you might be tempted to give up before getting too far into the story.The main character, Dug, comes off as boring and unlikable at first but he's a lot of fun once he gets a chance to interact with other characters. Basically my advise is to stick with it, and if you're still not into it by a quarter of the way through then you can quit.
